Copyright & Intellectual Property Policy
Effective Date: August 8, 2026
This policy explains what belongs to Secondhand Stories, what belongs to readers and third-party rights holders, and how protected parts of Find My Story may and may not be used.
Find My Story is built from years of personal curation, original organization, distinctive design, and a unique reader-matching system. Individual books and third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners. The original Find My Story system, compilation, artwork, writing, arrangement, and implementation belong to Secondhand Stories to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Ordinary personal use and enjoyment of the app are welcome. Copying, scraping, cloning, commercial exploitation, dataset construction, AI training, or competitive use is not authorized unless Secondhand Stories gives prior written permission.
This Copyright and Intellectual Property Policy explains ownership, permitted uses, restrictions, complaint procedures, and protections that apply to Find My Story by Secondhand Stories. It covers the Find My Story website, iOS application, Android application, catalog, recommendation tools, user interface, visual systems, rewards, written content, artwork, software, and related services collectively referred to as the Service.
This policy is part of the legal terms governing the Service and should be read together with the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. The Terms govern general use, memberships, accounts, liability, and disputes. The Privacy Policy explains how personal information is handled. This policy focuses on intellectual property, third-party rights, permissions, copying restrictions, and rights-holder procedures.
Nothing here claims ownership of books, literary works, cover art, author names, publisher materials, or other third-party property. Its purpose is to distinguish those third-party rights from the original intellectual property, compilation, arrangement, systems, visual style, and methods developed by Secondhand Stories.
This policy is intended to state rights and procedures accurately without claiming ownership of third-party books or unprotectable ideas, facts, systems, or methods. Intellectual-property law is fact-specific and changes over time. Professional review and formal registrations can provide additional protection as Secondhand Stories grows.
