Find My Story by Secondhand Stories
Behind every recommendation is a real reader who believes there is a story out there for everyone.
I've loved stories for as long as I can remember. Reading has always been one of the ways I explore the world, discover new perspectives, escape for a while, and find something I didn't even know I needed.
Like many readers, I've gone through book slumps. I've had seasons when I read constantly and seasons when it was harder to find a story that truly pulled me in. But in college, I rediscovered just how much I loved reading, and that love has continued to grow.
I created Find My Story because I genuinely believe that the right book can surprise you. Sometimes it is a book you have been searching for. Sometimes it is a book you would have never picked up on your own.
Where It Began
Before Find My Story became a book-discovery experience, there was Secondhand Stories. Through my shop, I began curating books for customers and creating Blind Date with a Book experiences designed to connect readers with stories they might not have discovered otherwise.
Over time, I realized that one of my favorite parts of the experience was choosing the book itself. I loved listening to what someone was looking for, considering different possibilities, and helping connect them with a story that felt like it might be right for them.
Customer responses helped show me that the experience was working. Readers told me that they were excited to receive a book by an author they had never tried, discovered stories they might not have found on their own, and enjoyed the surprise of being connected with something new.
That experience became the foundation for Find My Story. I wanted to take the care and thoughtfulness behind the way I personally curate books and make that kind of discovery available to more readers.

These experiences helped shape Find My Story into what it is today: a larger way to help readers discover books with intention.
The Library
Find My Story is built around a growing library of more than 3,500 books. I continue adding to the catalog regularly, including at least 50 new books each month and often more as I discover stories that deserve a place in the collection.
The goal is not to create a catalog filled only with the most popular books of the moment. I want Find My Story to offer a broad variety of reading possibilities because every reader is different.
You'll find popular books and new releases alongside indie authors, overlooked stories, vintage books, and books from decades past. A story from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, or even the 1800s can still surprise a modern reader.
I believe older books deserve room on the shelf alongside the newest releases. Not every wonderful story is currently being discussed on TikTok or Instagram, and sometimes the most exciting discovery is the book you did not know you were looking for.
How I Find Books
Books enter the Find My Story library from all kinds of places. I discover stories while visiting thrift stores, library sales, bookstores, antique sales, retailers, and unexpected places where an interesting title catches my eye.
I also discover books through readers, social communities, online conversations, followers, authors, and recommendations from people who believe a particular story deserves more attention.
I pay attention to the books people are talking about, but popularity alone is not what earns a book a place in the catalog. I am interested in building a library with variety.
Sometimes a book simply catches my attention. It may be a story I have seen readers pick up repeatedly, a hidden gem I found while searching, or something I think deserves another chance to be discovered.
My Approach to Ratings
Most books in the Find My Story collection are books with ratings of three stars or higher, and many are rated four stars or above. But I do not believe that a rating should always be the only measure of whether a book deserves to be discovered.
Occasionally, a book with a lower rating may be included because I believe it did not get a fair shake or because the right reader may have a completely different experience with it.
Reading is personal. One person's five-star read can be another person's three-star read, and a book that did not work for one reader may become a favorite for someone else.
This is one reason Find My Story gives readers multiple book possibilities with each request. A recommendation is an invitation to discover, not a promise that every reader will love every story in exactly the same way.
Request a Librarian
No one person can discover every book. That is why Find My Story includes Request a Librarian, where readers can share books, authors, and ideas they believe should be considered for the growing collection.
Maybe you have found a book that you think more people deserve to know about. Maybe there is an author I have not discovered yet. Maybe there is a kind of book or reading experience you would love to see represented.
Readers can help point me toward new stories, and the collection can continue growing beyond my own reading experiences and discoveries. I think there is something beautiful about that: readers helping other readers find their next story.
From One Reader to Another
Find My Story exists because I believe discovering a book should feel exciting. Whether you find a new favorite, rediscover an author, try something outside your usual comfort zone, or simply add another possibility to your reading list, I hope the search itself becomes part of the fun.
